After all the hassle Filthy Beast won an award at the Hantsweb awards ceremony, held at the Planetarium, Intech, Winchester. Local dignitaries were met, including the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire and a buffet lunch was consumed after the awards were presented. The Planetarium auditorium was an impressive setting for the awards but it managed to be intimate at the same time. A 3D film of space travel with rockets and astronauts projected onto the domed ceiling preceded the awards. I heard that it was very good but spent most of my time covering my eyes because it gave me vertigo and nausea to watch it. Damn this MS!
The Planetarium is in a very pretty setting just outside Winchester and on a clear day I assume that the rolling fields of Hampshire would be visible. However, the murky mist refused to lift all day. The telescopes on the site don’t quite match up to those in my home county of Cheshire, so I can’t resist adding an image of the Lovell radio telescope, Jodrell Bank to the slideshow here.
Hehe…
