Continuous antibiotic protocol (CAP) to treat Clamydia pneumoniae (CPN).

Day 1 24/06/07
NAC 600 am and pm + 100mg doxy
Falling asleep at the keyboard late morning, had to lie down then slept for 3 hours. Sinus pressure, skin lesions on legs very itchy, tingling right fingers (most recent MS symptom).Tight chest, cough, runny nose.

Day 2
Nac 1200 am and 600 pm + 100mg doxy As above + rubbery legs, poor balance.

Day 3
As day 1 but no sleeping although very tired.

Day 4
Without abx
Fleeting sharp pains in both ears. Sinus pressure, skin lesions very itchy, tingling right fingers
(most recent MS symptom).Tight chest, cough, runny nose.Vaginal thrush? No extra sleep.

Day 5

Slept in until 1.30pm.Top teeth rhs connected with nose top teeth pressure. Right jaw joint making itself felt. Right index finger nail sensitive to pressure on the keyboard – must cut these long nails! wanted to sleep after evening meal again. Cold left side of face with tingling – this is the site of surgery to remove a birthmark when I was 14.

Day 6

Nothing new. Should I add the second doxi tonight? Still scoffing acidopholus in case this really is thrush, not just the old soreness which was treated with Vagifem and I have got lax in using that.
Added Doxi no. 2.

Day 7
2 Doxi with breakfast and no new effects. Shopping for guests tomorrow and tidying up all day. Cramp in feet in bed – didn’t last long.

Day 8

Enjoyed guests – I have so missed my friends from the North! Sat in the sun for a while and noticed a little itchy sun rash on my arm later – will have to watch that in future. Very tired at the end of the day and noticed some minor fasciculation here and there.

Day 9 (Week 2)

Will now go to weekly reporting and just record new effects.
Today’s new one is itching on sides of the chest – got this in 2003 and thought that it was emotional response to new job or an allergy. That was a very hot summer and the year after I had been to see a consultant gynae at Liverpool Royal who had done all the tests for Sjoren’s etc. The verdict there was pelvic floor muscle spasm causing my chronic pain.

“widespread muscle, joint and connective tissue pain, dis-coordination, deep fatigue, brain fog, bowel and other organ distress, nausea, are an indication of the endotoxin-cytokine cascade when abxii treatment is initiated.” True!

Day 10

I suspect that it is not thrush but the awful pain I developed after the hysterectomy/vaginal repair – it truly is a pain in the arse. This was the pain that my GP ( at the time 1998 ) said that I would have “learn to live with”. It affects the movement of my left leg as well as tingling in the buttocks.

Bliss – just stepped out on the decking to drink my tea in the fleeting sun between showers and a dragon fly swooped past to rest on the fence and sun himself. He stayed for about five minutes until the rain clouds rolled in again. Such beautiful gossamer wings and hard metallic coloured body. His flight path over the lawn was a bit low so I had to restrain Badger ( cat ) from chasing him until he gained more altitude. A sight like this makes life worthwhile.

day 12
ibid

Day 13

Took abx on empty stomach before breakfast – seems OK. How long an interval before eating?

“I didn’t start NAC until months after I started the antibiotics and got some rather mild fluey symptoms for about six weeks. I guess that if one is taking two bacterial protein synthesis inhibitors, then any EBs entering the host cell will be unable to avoid lysosomes and so perish. One might speculate that lysosomal dismantling of bacterial proteins may be kinder to the host than large-scale extracellular release of complete proteins. If this scenario is
the case, then NAC or ampicillin could be delayed. “

Yay, I can stop beating myself up about trying to scale up from 1200 a day!

Day 14

Added Azith this morning and waited before eating – not a good idea, after 30 mins or so felt that I needed food and one small mouthfull started me wretching. This went on and on for a few hours – I inially thought that it was the Azith, but maybe it was the Doxy as that has been noted as being hard to stomach. A wiped out day, but to take my mind off the nausea I slogged at doing a javascript image display. Finally got it to work but won’t use it again because it is not accessible ie. nothing happens if javascript is switched off. I Would have
said that I wasted my time, but it was a good diversionary tactic.

Day 15 – 070707

Slept in late. Back to Doxy with breakfast. The leg lesions are still spreading and itchy, I have not had anything like this before; when they appeared previously they stayed much smaller, less of them, not itchy and burning. The first one appeared around the NAC testing time.

Day 16

References to images for skin lesions.

Possible enhanced by reaction to Doxy, as in Drug Eruption? Otherwise tolerating well having split the NAC dose in 3, so makes it 1800mg in all.

Day 17 090707
Azith with Doxy in the morning – with food this time. No vomiting -yay! Reduced NAC to just 600mg today because it seems to me that it could be aggravating the leg rash.

Day 18

Legs very bad and balance/gait. Added pics
Day 19/20/21

Cortisone cream helps with itching on legs. DW replied to email,

“This organism can cause
vasculitis in most parts of the body, and in the skin; it has been associated with a skin condition called pyoderma gangrenosum. These vasculitides can get worse before improving. I remember you showing me the lesion on your leg. It does show that the antibiotics are having an effect.”

Although from images viewed this is not what I have - ie not ulercerated or raised (fingers crossed that I won’t loose my legs! Either way it is worrying that I have been living with this thing for at least 4 years, if not longer.

Day 22/23/24/25/26 14/07/07 – 18/07
Rash on legs reducing gradually with dead skin layer peeling from the centres outwards to the edges of the lesions. Itching also reducing. Tiredness stll a feature. Having to increase the amytriptilyne to 20mg at night because the restless legs, sensory symptoms and jerking around has reappeared, so difficulties in falling asleep.

Have noticed a soreness around the recently fractured rib again – thought it had healed.

Had a reminder of the odd right side intermittant neck pain I used to have prior to the so-called cervical spondylosis attack back in the 80’s. I now think that this was an MS relapse, maybe my first because it did remit completely after 5-6 months.

Nevertheless I am keen to start pulsing now that I have found the chlorella to be effective in dealing with die-off. Perhaps I should check with David before I do?

Day 27 19/07/07

Friday – has to be Azi day!
